A film about a young woman emerging from a river and wanders around a community asking people where she can find Dungan was proclaimed the Best Picture in the Open Category of Sine Negrense Film Competition 2022 during its Awards Night last November 26, at Seda Capitol Central - Bacolod.

This was the second Best Picture Award received by Director Jonathan Jurilla as he also won last year in his film Tiempo Suerte.

Ang Babayi sa Suba also won Best Musical Score and Sound Design.

Perya De Juan meanwhile is a story about Clara Guanzon, a haciendera-turned-Tagala returns home to her ancestral home for the summer. The Guanzon cousins galavant through the blinding lights, deafening cheers, and staggering scale of the town fair yet beneath the shadows of the rickety and rust-covered fair lies a terrible truth.

Perya De Juan is a production of La Salle Film Society who also won Best Picture last year in their film 'Diin ka Ramon?' in the Intercollegiate Category.

Perya De Juan also won Best Director for David Reasol, Best Cinematography and Best Editing for Rodney Jarder Jr., Joshua Doronilla and John Magbanua for Best Musical Score, Raj Sugay for Best Sound Design and Best Actress for Jerianne Panisales.

The Jury's Choice Award for the Open Category went to Kurt Soberano's Golden Bells and Sa Kalaut Sang Katobtoban by Jael Tipon in the Intercollegiate Category.

Sine Negrense returned to face to face screening and awarding ceremony after two years online due to the restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. The festival showcased 20 films in competition this year, with 9 open category and 11 Intercollegiate category entries.
